Taking a dig at Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for their claims that only "Congress party had genuine concern" for poor, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday lashed out at the Congress of doing nothing for the welfare of poor since India's independence.The large community of Indian Americans here, who were anxiously watching the election results, said the mandate in favor of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not only better for the resurgence of India's economic growth amid the current economic recession but it will also strengthen the Indo-US ties.

They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club. I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.
